Hōsekitsugi™️ is Denton Sato’s reinterpretation of the ancient Japanese art of kintsugi into the jewelry medium. Kintsugi is the ancient art of repairing broken ceramics utilizing gold (kin), resulting in a piece that is more valuable than the original. Denton Sato developed the idea of hōsekitsugi while learning wax carving. When carving the wax, if the wax model is broken, Denton repairs the model utilizing a sapphire to highlight the imperfection and create a piece that is more valuable than the original.
Each facet of this piece was handcarved and polished. It is a one of a kind piece.
The sapphires for this ring are natural sapphires of unknown origin.
